Sculptural Scandinavian modern eight drawer dresser designed by William Hinn for Urban Furniture’s “Swedish Guild Collection” in Sweden circa 1950s. This rare and sleek design features a sculpted biomorphic walnut wood body with beech wood carved legs that cut across the case and support the curved cabinet and its eight drawers. Highly sought after, this unique dresser’s exposed exoskeleton frame and its arched body create a unique dynamic showcasing Hinn's architectural and remarkable craftsmanship while keeping his organic aesthetic. The front shows a rich book-matched walnut veneer, and each drawer has a hidden pull to open and reveal ample storage space.  This iconic dresser has been fully restored and refinished by our expert craftsmen and will make the perfect addition to exhibit the elegance that Scandinavian Modern design embodies effortlessly.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
