Pair of iconic modern side tables designed by Paul McCobb for Directional in the United States circa the 1950s. These pair of rare side tables first appeared in Directional's 1954 catalog as the model no. 1904, showcasing McCobb's elegant approach to a simple and straightforward design ideal for contemporary interiors. This exceptional design features a tripod brass frame holding the original milky white glass Vitrolite tops on each table, adding a clean and modern aesthetic. The brass bases have been professionally high polished by our expert craftsmen adding many more years of use ideal for vintage and elegant decor. The clean lines and modern profile on these side tables capture McCobb's essence of Mid-Century Modern design, making them the perfect accent tables.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
