Elegant pair of modern marble table lamps designed by Walter von Nessen for Nessen Lighting in the United States circa 1950s. After immigrating from Germany to the States, von Nessen set up a shop in the NYC area where he worked on crafting architectural lighting like these spectacular pair of table lamps. These petite scale lamps are crafted in solid Italian Carrara marble, showcase a mix of geometric and clean lines that exemplify the minimalist influences of Mid-Century Modern design. The white and gray veined marble pattern adds gorgeous detail to any interior while creating a statement of contemporary aesthetic. Both lamps have been  rewired by our expert craftsmen, complemented with new brass hardware and a new linen shade to accentuate the perfect spot in your home.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
