This Laurel Brutalist table lamp with geometric metal relief is a striking expression of mid-century modern lighting design, blending architectural form with tactile surface detail. The bold metal base features layered geometric relief that creates visual depth and a dynamic presence, while the clean lines maintain a sculptural simplicity. Paired with a beautifully proportioned shade, the lamp offers balanced illumination that is both functional and artful. Its robust construction and thoughtful design make it a compelling accent in living rooms, offices, or contemporary interiors that value statement lighting. In excellent restored condition, this lamp brings classic Brutalist energy and refined modern style to any space.

Fun Historical Fact

During the mid-20th century, designers often looked to Brutalism for inspiration in furniture and lighting, translating the architectural movement’s emphasis on raw, bold forms into domestic design. Laurel Lamp Company was one of the key American manufacturers embracing this aesthetic, incorporating sculptural metalwork and strong geometry into their pieces. Lamps of this period were not just functional objects but also focal points in interiors, reflecting a growing appreciation for lighting as a form of artistic expression. Today, original mid-century Brutalist lighting is sought after for its striking presence and design integrity.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
