A stunning modern desk designed by John Van Koert in collaboration for Drexel's "Profile" line in the United States circa the 1960s. This stylish desk also known as the Model K80 features a solid walnut wood frame and four dovetailed-drawers with one large functioning for filing papers or documents. Each drawer features a sculpted brass pull we recently polished in a high-gloss finish for a beautiful contrast in the warm intricate walnut grain detail throughout, completing the modern look and clean aesthetic. The pencil/letter holder above the desktop and combined with the elegant new black leather top we used adds to the functionality for the perfect workspace while exuding elegance. Our professional craftsmen have meticulously refinished this American classic, making sure all structural elements remain faithful to the original design. Our desk also features a finished back so it can easily float in a room showcasing all its striking sculpted angles for the perfect home or office working environment.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
