Stylish GE-240 Cigar stool designed by Hans J. Wegner for Getama in Denmark circa 1950s. This beautifully designed modern stool features a sculpted oak wood frame, including wood slats that support the comfortable new high-density foam cushion. The cushion has been recently upholstered in a textured gray fabric with button tufted detail for an elegant finish. This stool was initially manufactured to pair with Wegner’s GE-240 lounge chair; however, it creates an equally striking modern aesthetic when paired with any modern or contemporary furniture designs. Wegner’s emphasis on form and function makes this stool both versatile and graceful, with its various shapes and angles. It can be used as a footstool or on its own as a seating stool.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
