An elegant lacquered cabinet designed by Swedish architect Greta M. Grossman for Glenn of California in the United States circa 1950s. This two-door cabinet features a solid walnut wood case with a glossy black lacquered finish on the doors, and the designer’s signature circular brass handles making a uniquely Californian modern statement. The interior comprises two shelves with ample storage space ideal to fit your personal belongings and keeping them safe. This stylish cabinet shows exceptional craftsmanship with clean symmetric lines and geometric proportions, adding an artistic flair for the ideal Mid-Century Modern aesthetic. Our professional craftsmen have meticulously restored this cabinet, enhancing its richly walnut grain pattern making this unit the perfect addition to spice up your home decor while adding storage options.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
