Striking Model 218 or also known as the "Jupiter" chair designed by distinguished Danish architect Finn Juhl in collaboration with the famous workshop company, France & Søn in Denmark during the 1960s. This chair features a Brazilian rosewood sculpted base that holds the newly upholstery seat, giving it a floating style, showcasing Juhl's light and minimalist aesthetic. Our expert craftsmen team has meticulously refinished it to show its natural wood grain and reupholstered it in new high-density foam with an elegant tweed fabric that adds a touch of modern charm to this vintage chair. All while keeping all original design elements and craftsmanship, to maintain the classic essence of Juhl’s design and vision. Signed underneath with Danish makers mark.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
