Designed by Danish craftsman Herluf Agergaard, this 1960s teak and oak sideboard is a stunning example of Danish Modern design. The warm teak wood exterior is complemented by an oak interior, creating a rich contrast that highlights its fine craftsmanship. Featuring five dovetailed drawers with recessed handles and locking double doors with the original key, this piece offers both functional storage and timeless elegance. The cabinet opens to reveal spacious shelving, perfect for organizing dining essentials or personal treasures. Elevated on oak taper legs, this sideboard embodies the clean lines and minimalist aesthetic of Scandinavian design.

Fun Historical Fact: Danish Modern design became a global phenomenon in the mid-20th century, largely due to its focus on functionality and craftsmanship. Herluf Agergaard was part of this movement, contributing to Denmark's reputation as a leader in quality furniture design.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
