This exquisite Mid-Century Modern ceramic vase was designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi Studio in Italy during the 1950s. Featuring a textured cream-colored body with vibrant hand-painted stripes in yellow, green, and brown, this piece embodies the playful yet refined aesthetic of the era. The glossy green interior adds a striking contrast, making it a standout accent for any collection. Crafted with Bitossi’s signature attention to detail, the vase remains in excellent vintage condition, preserving its rich history and artistic charm.

Fun Historical Fact: Aldo Londi, the creative director of Bitossi Studio, is best known for introducing the iconic "Rimini Blue" glaze, which became one of the most recognizable ceramic finishes of the 20th century. His work helped establish Bitossi as a leading name in Italian ceramics, blending traditional craftsmanship with innovative modern design.

The Restoration Record

Everything we touched, and everything we left alone

Sixty-four hours of bench time by two craftsmen in our Hyperion Avenue workshop. Period-correct methods and materials throughout.

Frame fully disassembled, joints cleaned of old glue and re-set with hide glue. One rear stretcher replaced with salvaged period teak, grain-matched.
Stripped by hand, sanded through 120/180/240/320 grit, then three coats of Danish oil cut back between coats. No lacquer, no filler, no stain.
New jute webbing over the original beech rails; horsehair and natural latex pad; Kvadrat wool bouclé in undyed oat.
Maker's stamp, original brass fittings and the patina on the arm caps, the marks that prove the piece lived.
