Manufacturers like Modeline of California collaborated with designers such as Arthur Jacobs to create pieces that were both visually striking and highly functional — reflecting a broader post-war shift toward casual yet sophisticated interiors. Floor lamps in this era were no longer hidden utilities but key elements of interior architecture, often serving as focal points that defined the mood of a space.
